Best smaller town 30/40 singles?

I am months away from turning 30 and looking for a place to live. I telecommute, so I can live anywhere with internet (I have pets, so US is highly preferable (to escape quarantine), though not an end-all). I do NOT like LARGE cities (ie over 500k), but then, I also don't want to be the only single gal in a town of marrieds ( no exact %, but you get my drift). Since I can go basically anywhere (escape-factoring in pets) where would you suggest?
