Can I get funded for a higher English qualification on top of a full time course?

I've just completed City & Guilds Motor Vehicle level 1 & 2 and have been accepted onto the level 3 course starting next term, for which I will be receiving a bursary. I'd really love to get a higher english qualification too, either by a night class (preferable) or study at home. My own college can't cover the course fees on top of paying me the bursary. Is there any way around this so that I can study English this year without it costing me money? I live in Scotland.
