Im getting a Hamster in a couple of days what precautions can i take so that he or she will not bite?

I'm getting a Hamster on the weekend, i've had them before which havent biten but when i was smaller so they were more family pets. Is there anything i can do to avoid him or her becoming a biter other than holding them alot?
